The VERTEBRIS lumbar instrument set is designed for full-endoscopic decompression of the lumbar spine and thoracic spine. Typical indications include herniated discs, spinal cysts and spinal canal stenosis. The following approaches can be performed fully endoscopically:

  • Transforaminal
  • Extraforaminal
  • Interlaminar

The excellent optical properties of the Vertebris discoscopes are the basis for intraoperative visualisation and guide special instruments into the surgical field.

The universal design of the instrument set also allows the indications to be extended by gradually adding new components.

A large selection of sterile and reusable reamers is available for every surgical application. Specially developed reamers and shavers are the results and innovative solutions of many years of development.

Trans- /extraforaminal technique

 

The transforaminal and extraforaminal surgical technique utilises the intervertebral foramen to access the pathology. A puncture cannula is used to access the intervertebral disc through the intervertebral foramen (transforaminal) or to the pedicle (extraforaminal) under X-ray control. After dilatation and insertion of the working sleeve, further surgery is performed through the discoscopes under continuous fluid irrigation with high-resolution endoscopic imaging.

Precision instruments such as forceps, punches, electrodes and cutters with a special design enable the operation to be performed effectively.

VERTEBRIS transforaminal

  • High-resolution discoscopes with working length for posterolateral and lateral transforaminal approaches.
  • Optimised ratio of large working channel and outer diameter for minimally invasive access and effective operation.
  • Optimised fluid management through optimisation of inflow and outflow – prevention of compression of neural structures through high pressures of the irrigation fluid.

Interlaminar technique

 

In interlaminar surgery, the spinal canal is accessed via the interlaminar window from the posterior. The dilator is guided directly to the ligamentum flavum with a puncture cannula without prior puncture. After placing the working sheath over the dilator, the operation is performed through the high-resolution HD discoscope under continuous fluid irrigation. The functionality of the components of the access system and the instruments are precisely matched to each other and allow the ligamentum flavum and the nerve root to be passed with minimal traumatisation.

Using special manual instruments and a large number of available high-speed cutters, herniated discs can be effectively removed and bone parts of spinal stenoses can be resected under full endoscopic view.
